iPhone snapshot of our cat Äppelblom, who sadly passed away yesterday, quite unexpectedly.
Here she is laying at her favourite spot. For some reason she felt this place was perfect and could even sleep here outside the house during night.
My wive and I have had cats for two decades. Every cat (or pet for that matter) is unique, and so was Äppelblom. But she was more unique than other, so to speak, very special in her personality and had a way of behaving that we have never seen before.
She was more or less a stray cat, or a wild cat, but still somewhat used to people since our neighbour fed her in their barn. But still she was not domesticated, and she kept her distance to people.
But after she moved in with us she was very friendly and very affectionate, eager to please and be friends with everybody. No other cat we have had likes to be patted on the stomach, they freak out and scratch your arms. But Äppelblom just loved it! It was like she said "Thank you so much for letting me stay here!"
It can sometimes be very difficult to add a new cat to the household where there already are other cats, but she was so easy going so our other four cats became friends with her in an instant and accepted her. No fighting or anything of that sort.
We were so happy when we got her and that everything worked out so smoothly. We thought we would give her a really nice cat life in compare to what she had been used to. Then just four months later, all of a sudden she got very ill, didn't respond to treatment and eventually had to be put to sleep. It happend so quickly, just in a matter of hours. I can't quite understand it yet that she's actually gone...
